I was feeling up to making something yesterday morning, so Ifigured I’d make a batch of my great-grandma’s 7-layer bars. Here’s the recipe:
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cup graham crackers, crushed (easiest to buy the crumbs already crushed)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk.
Mix graham cracker crumbs with melted butter & pat into 9×13 pan .
Layer items in order.
Pour sweetened condensed milk over top
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
These are SO easy. I made a few modifications .. I used white chocolate chips, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and added more nuts since I like nuts. The only complaint I have with this is the sweetened condensed milk … it’s not so easy to “pour”.
But, these got the stamp of approval at work … I left 4 pieces at home for hubby and I and took the rest to work .. they were gone in an hour and a half.
