Scott an I had a rare opportunity to go out with two of our married couple friends last night. I say rare because I think the last time we all hung out was around Christmas, or was it even January by that time? One couple has a toddler – the cutest thing ever – and the other couple has a firefighter in the duo. Between his crazy schedule and mine, it’s nearly impossible to make plans.
But, we made it happen for one night, and I must say, it was SO much fun!
We started off the afternoon with tickets to the PAC and STOMP. It was an amazing hour and a half performance. I think at some point in time we were all on the edge of our seats shaking our heads in amazement. (And maybe us girls were oogling the muscles on the guys, but … whatever.) A co-worker today asked me “Isn’t it just noise?” Well yes, but the ability the performers have to keep a rhythm despite 7 other people on stage doing 7 different things blows my mind. The performance requires a background in music, dance, percussion, and a little bit of comedy. After that, we headed over to Jonathan’s Bistro – Mine and Scott’s favorite place to dine in Appleton. Scott and I love this place because of it’s “endless pasta nights” … for $19/person you get endless salad, bread, pasta of your choice, house wine and a dessert. You really can’t beat that! Scott started with the ravioli (which was really good) and I had the spaghetti (the meatballs were awesome, but pasta was pasta). Laura went with the endless pasta too – starting with the ravioli as well. Tony tried the mushroom penne (which sounded awesome, but I didn’t try it). Niki had the seared tuna with wasabi risoto (I tried the risoto and definately want to try making it at home … it rocked!) and I think her hubby, Todd, had the lasagna. On the second round, Laura and I had the ravioli and Scott chose the chicken pesto penne – by far the best choice for the endless pasta night. He even said “Why’d I waste time with the ravioli when this is SO much better?” (I’ve got some in the fridge for dinner tonight – yum!) Dessert was awesome too … Scott got a piece of tiramisu to go (again for my dinner tonight) and I had a piece there. Todd tried the canolis (which looked awesome) and Laura had the tuxedo cake (quite tasty!)
All in all, it was a great night out with friends. Now, if only we didn’t have to wait 3 months to do it again! 🙂
